Emotions are unrecognised expressions of essence.
Essence has three qualities Emptiness, Cognisance and Unlimited Compassion. From this five other qualities manifest as mirror-like wisdom, all-accomplishing wisdom, discerning wisdom, wisdom of equality, and all-encompassing space.
These five qualities are known as the five buddha families, they are the expression of essence. As individuals we have an inclination toward one of these. Each family is linked to a particular emotion, and so a Buddha family has two aspects: wisdom and neurotic. And there lays the beauty of emotions!
When an emotion arises
it is the expression of pure essence.
If recognised the emotion returns to essence.
Then acts through compassion.
When an emotion arises
it is the expression of pure essence.
If it is unrecognised the emotion explodes
Then acts out of selfishness.
