I ‘HATE’ MY TEACHER!

I ‘hate’ my teacher!

I hate my teacher.
He always irritating me.
He’s always ignores me.
He never includes me.

I’d better explain this! The attitude shows a strong karmic connection: if the student truly hated the teacher, they would leave. Although the student is complaining, they never forget their teacher. At death even if all the teachings are forgotten, the memory of the teacher will be very strong, as the student has the teacher on their mind ALL the time. This will help in remaining undistracted. The main point is that the teacher wants the student to rely on their own inner teacher – experience and understanding. And anyway, it’s only a ‘me’ that wants the attention.

Whereas many students love their teacher:

 I ‘love’ my teacher
He never irritates me
He comforts me
He always smiles at me
He makes me feel good
He’s always there for me
if I need him.

Some students need constant reassurance: their reverence can be a sort of passive aggression.

There are some who have no relationship with the teacher,
but have with the Dharma –
the teaching itself.
This could be due to previous wounds and obstacles.

Know that the teacher is still present.
The inner teacher.
The scriptorial teacher.
The symbolic teacher.

Sometimes we have a problem with the physical teacher
because of the adoration that surrounds them
from so many students: it’s not easy to form a relationship.

Wanting attention may feel needy,
but in fact is merely hesitation in one’s own knowing.
That’s all.

The relationship with a teacher is a tricky one.
Like fire,
get too close and you’ll be burned.
Stand too far away and you’ll feel no warmth.

Buddha activity takes many forms.
