SOFTNESS AND SENTIMENTALITY IN SPIRITUALITY

Softness and Sentimentality in Spirituality

Softness is melting our frozen fixations.

Sentimentality is brittle,
imposing hopes and fears and fabricating emotional pressure.

One is absolute reality.
The other is a conventional projection.

In the heat of sentimentality
there is the potential to recognise the coolness of softening.

And that is challenging,
because sentimentality requires acknowledgement as it is our relative truth.
It can melt into emptiness.

Softness and sentimentality are an interwoven tapestry,
completing the picture.

We can be in love with sentimentality
or be, in love with softness.
