Never Believe In Your Self

Never believe in your self.
Better to know your self.

This self is consciousness
holding on to a mental construct.

Recognise an untruth when you see it.
Even if we’re told that the Buddha said it, see if it is true.

This misquote from the Buddha
is exactly how we can be deceived,
and separated into two sorts of people.

Humanity has been misled for millennia
by such subtle changes in wording.

The question to ask is,
“Why would anyone do this?”
