WISDOM IN ACTION IS EMPATHY

Wisdom In Action Is Empathy

Wisdom in action isn’t compassion; it’s empathy.

Compassion: sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others.
Empathy: the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.

Anyone – or any religion – can have pity for others, but few can actually recall how it feels, and have the ability to listen. We have all experienced every known emotion, and it’s a long list. https://www.berkeleywellbeing.com/list-of-emotions.html

Empathy is knowing how someone feels because we’ve been there, done that. It isn’t about feeling superior because we acknowledge that we still feel these things, but we know why, and can do something about it.

Compassion is feeling sorry for others.
Empathy is feeling the sorrow.
