THE CYCLE OF EVENTS

The Cycle Of Events

When we know what causes events – desire, aversion and ignorance – we know what to look out for. The telltale signs. It starts off with fear, and then desire for a resolution, all the while ignoring that we’re going through an event again. It’s called the Hegelian dialectic – the contradiction between a proposition (thesis) and its antithesis, to arrive at a solution (synthesis).

To put it simply:
create a problem which creates fear,
creating an opportunity to implement another problem.

Ever wondered why things don’t completely make sense?

Attraction, repulsion and inertia work on a personal and collective level, and in the solar system. Never forget it’s a system – a principle of procedure, a set-up. In Sanskrit, this is called Samsara – the vicious cycle of existence, where we seek happiness and all we get is anxiety.

We break out of this cycle of existence by being aware of what is taking place in our mind and why. All the while, this activity is observed by untouchable consciousness which is outside all events.

Meditation truly brings an end to suffering, the cycle of euphoria and misery. Meditation is merely a reminder that pure awareness is always spontaneously present. To sit for hours reminding ourselves to be aware when we are already aware is ultimately pointless, but it’s a very good start.

Pure awareness = no fear, no hope, no confusion.

The Buddha meditated for six years,
    but he was Siddhartha Gautama
    with many significant incarnations,
and had studied the Vedas and Upanishads.
