What Is Imagination?
Imagination is the ability to form ideas, without the presence of the senses.
Imagination comes from memories of experience, rather than guessing mixed with fantasy.
Fantasy imagines that if we mix yellow and black, we’ll probably get a mess.
Practical imagination knows that, if we mix yellow and black, we’ll get a beautiful green.
Guessing isn’t imagination; it’s an opinion and, as such, impractical.
Knowledge is experience, and uses imagination to express practicality – turn off electricity before sticking fingers in socket.
Spirituality is the same:
Fantasy spirituality assumes empathy and compassion.
Practical spirituality finds empathy and compassion challenging.
