Having To Toe The Line
We self-censor, so as not to cause dissent. Why? People do not want to lose confidence in what they are told. Why? Fear.
So, we don’t say what we need to say, as people don’t want to listen to another view – they can’t take it in. When we feel that others aren’t listening, this makes us even more suspicious. 🙂
Within any organised group, be it political, social, or religious, we do not have free speech. We have to toe the line and not question, as this is seen as criticism. It’s only outside the groupthink that we can talk freely – but to whom? Religious groups are especially reluctant to self-question.
When people take a side, all meaningful communication ceases. There are things that have happened in the past few years that we are not allowed to talk about, and there are certain words that have to be avoided.
Toe the line: accept the authority, policies, or principles of a particular group, especially unwillingly or under pressure. To do what you are expected to do without causing trouble for anyone.
While all this goes on unaffected pure consciousness
watches on with compassionate understanding.
