Imprisoned By Doctrine
The problem with adherence to doctrine/ideology/scripture
is emotional immaturity,
and a lack of tolerance and compassion.
Religion – or any ideology – seems to make people narrow-minded. They can quote doctrine and talk the talk, but this is meaningless without experience; some sort of hypocrisy is involved, and there’s never a meeting of minds. We are all on our path to some realisation beyond the books, but many fall by the wayside through carrying too much luggage.
Realisation is only practical when we can talk about what we have personally experienced.
Hypocrisy: the practice of claiming to have higher standards or more noble beliefs than is the case
From Greek hupokrisis ‘acting of a theatrical part’, from hupokrinesthai ‘play a part, pretend’.
