IDEAS SEPARATE PEOPLE

Ideas Separate People

There is relative truth – ideas about life – and there is ultimate truth – pure seeing, which is life itself before any ideas about ‘life’.

We may be interested in the same subject as someone else, but it’s the way we relate to that subject that separates us. Let’s say several people look at a pond. We all recognise a pond – even animals do. This is the unity of just seeing. Then each individual starts to relate to the pond differently, and that’s when we divide. The same goes for the subject of pure awareness; there is nothing to talk about, because our reality of actual pure awareness is beyond comprehension.

That first moment of just seeing is our ultimate reality before words, while the second moment is relative awareness, when we relate through memories and words. The question arises, why talk? To communicate. But to communicate what?

Once we understand that our reality is the continuous presence of pure awareness, we merely deal with life as it arises within the clarity of nowness, and drop all attachment. In this way, we negate the effect of karma, which is our habitual, intellectual attitude that obscures pure awareness.

Isn’t there more to life than this? For those who want more, there’s plenty to entertain them. For those who’ve had enough of going round in circles, bringing an end to our habitual ways of seeing and relating – our old self – is a relief, as karma gradually comes to an end. We just see, and appreciate the seeing. It’s the easy path of happiness – and it’s quite enlightening. 🙂
