Buddhists, Like Everyone Else, Overdo It
Humans are obsessive, overly-dramatic creatures. We like sensation and spectacle which bypasses our common sense. As humans, we overdo everything because of psychological disorders, such as perfectionism, fear of failure, peer pressure, validation …
When we overdo things, we become extremists, which is the very opposite to the Middle Way. Our common sense is what unites us; the senses of touch, sight, smell, taste and hearing all bring us into the present moment of pure awareness now, before we start pontificating.
There is nothing extreme about common sense and pure awareness.
