Dealing With Negative Emotions
These negative emotions are pride, jealousy, desire, aversion and indifference, stemming from an idea in the mind of self and self-importance. They make our life (and the lives of others) hell. The enlightening news is that they are also the source of wisdom.
When we recognise these emotions, something wonderful happens – they have been observed! When they’re observed by pure consciousness, these emotions have no reality. We aren’t these emotions; we are the spontaneous instant of pure consciousness.
In an unenlightened world, things will always appear to go wrong; it’s the nature of our unstable cycle of existence. In the very first instant of perceiving something that doesn’t feel right, pure consciousness is alerted and brightens up. We are illuminated, and that moment is our perfect reality of wisdom – just seeing – and all possibilities unfold.
But because we assume that we are a product of the mind and are infatuated with an idea of self, we react, and claim a limited and biased reason for this occurrence. We justify, rationalise, judge without further ado, and become unbearable. This is hell. We have become a hell being.
Wisdom is all about that first moment of everlasting pure consciousness.
This first moment is our stable place of inner peace.
Emotions arise in all of us.
The levels of realisation are all about how quickly we recognise, and recover inner peace.
It’s being aware, rather than being caught and held.
