Do You Feel Monachopsis?
🙂
Monachopsis: a sense of unease.
The word monachopsis is formed from two Greek components: monakhós meaning ‘single’ or ‘solitary’ and ópsis meaning ‘view,’ ‘sight,’ or ‘vision’.
This is a common feeling of not belonging anywhere; it’s a persistent sense of being out of sync with our surroundings, and with people. We can either fit into social conventions, or experience the feeling of growth.
Out-growing the norm.
This feeling can be a signal that our current environment no longer fits who or what we are; it’s the meaning of the levels of realisation. Don’t think of it as going ‘higher’; we’re just removing the levels of confusion and ignorance. It’s the great takeaway!
It’s uncomfortable because it’s unusual, but as we become more familiar with this experience, we realise that we are not wrong.
Step out of conventional and religious thinking
and be really normal.
Ordinary, with no special features.
