One Light Or Many Lights?
Are we all one consciousness or many consciousnesses?
The light – or clarity – of consciousness is our pure state. It’s what we are, whether we like it or not. 🙂
The question arises: are we all part of one universal consciousness, or are we each individual consciousness? It’s the question that divides people.
Each individual has to realise which is true – or whether they’re both true. There is absolutely no point in arguing about this subject, as to be enlightened is to be totally open. If we aren’t enlightened, we cannot answer this question; we can only guess.
In contemplative meditation, there is just consciousness, spontaneously present.
Start there, stay there, and don’t worry about the past or the future. 🙂
One can surmise that all enlightened beings had the same clarity of vision, but expressed this differently to suit that era: action, devotion, wisdom …
When organised religion is constructed around this realisation of conformity – guess what? Mara steps in to reify it all.
Reify: to treat something abstract as if it were a concrete form, a tangible thing; thing-making.
Pure consciousness is incomprehensible;
it’s impossible to understand or grasp with the mind,
as the essence of mind is pure consciousness.
