The Fibonacci Effect

Attraction and repulsion are the building blocks of the universe.

The Fibonacci sequence is the blueprint for growth. Attraction and repulsion are the engines that build the physical universe. At every scale, the universe is a balancing act between these two opposing forces.

Without this precise tension, atoms wouldn’t exist, and matter couldn’t form. 

The Fibonacci Connection
Fibonacci patterns in plants are a solution to a conflict. A new leaf is attracted to the nutrient-rich centre of a stem but repelled by the chemical footprint of the leaves already there. The Fibonacci spiral is the most efficient compromise – the path of least resistance, between these two forces. 

The Human Scale
Even in human behaviour, we are driven by incentives (attraction) by moving toward rewards, profit, or social connection, and risks (repulsion) as we move away from loss, pain, or isolation.

The Power is the Balance
The reason the Fibonacci rule is so prevalent is that it represents the optimal geometric state where attraction and repulsion reach an equilibrium. It’s the point where the universe can grow the most, while using the least amount of energy.
