Material Wealth And Spiritual Wealth
We are told that material wealth filters down.
It doesn’t; it filters up!
It is knowledge that filters down.
Unfortunately, knowledge may be used to illuminate or to confuse.
When used to benefit self in a selfish way, it becomes material wealth.
When used to benefit others in a wisdom way, it becomes spiritual wealth.
There are two aspects to the Buddha’s teaching:
realisation of our true nature (empty awareness),
and purifying the confusion obscuring that true nature.
When knowledge filters down as manipulation (mara propaganda),
it destroys the wisdom of our true nature.
It keeps us confused.
When knowledge filters down as wisdom,
it liberates us from this confusion.
Mara confusion comes in the guise of fear, pleasure and ignorance.
Wisdom comes in the guise of realising
that the true nature of fear, pleasure and ignorance
is wisdom itself!
Mara attacks on wisdom are like
flaming arrows turning to flowers.
These flaming arrows merely enlighten the mind.
This is why wisdom wealth
is more powerful than material wealth.
