STILL WORRIED ABOUT EGO?

Still Worried About Ego?

When something is observed, heard, smelt, tasted or touched – or when we’re having a poo – none of these activities are ego-orientated. Ego is the collection of mental fixations to which we cling, and that governs our entire life: these fixations programme the type of person we become.

On meeting someone, there is an impression, a momentary experience. We may note an attitude, inclination or emotion, but this noting is not ego-orientated; it is the teacher of all phenomena. That is pure experience. If, however, we then hold on to that view, fixating upon it and boosting it, that is ego in action, and we will suffer, feeling uncomfortable as a result. We go over it and over it and over it, unable to just put it down.

I used to worry about ego,
until I realised that clinging to that worry is ego.

Realisation’s not so far away.

” We go over it and over it and over it”

Because we “can’t get over it.” 😀
