Acting Spiritual
Feeling the need to act ‘spiritual’ by picking up the subtle signals of how to fit in comes from a lack of true confidence. We mimic others who give the appearance of understanding, adhering to their words as opposed to engendering genuine empathetic kindness and spontaneity.
We all make this mistake – recognising this frame of mind brings an end to the act.
Again, this is why the Buddha said,
“Do not take my words for the truth; test them for yourself.”
Once we believe in others’ words, we become a second-hand self.
The truth is in how we are, and not in what we say.
When we realise this, we are the circle of no circumference.
The truth is in the empty silence between the words.
