We Self Censor … Why?
If we fear our words, this leads to censorship, and a fear of being ostracised or even arrested. We stop engaging with certain topics and meaningful conversations. Censorship is about stopping the spread of ‘disinformation’ which allows the state to influence what ‘information’ we are allowed to see, effectively narrowing our intellectual horizon.
We monitor our environment to see which views are popular or safe to express. This is called ‘the spiral of silence’, when we keep our thoughts to ourselves.
We fear honest communication because that requires vulnerability. This fear leads people to choose polite, agreeable silence over authentic expression, as we steer clear of meaningful dialogue so as not to rock the boat.
This isn’t going to change as fear has been projected on to humanity ad infinitum, continuing endlessly and repeating without limit.
Dare to think outside the box.
Meditation is only a start so that we can focus, not be distracted and remain spontaneously and directly aware. But we need more than this. We need to recognise the pattern of being coerced.
Coercion: a deliberate and continuous series of acts designed to strip a person of their independence.
This intentional pattern of domination builds over time to create a world of confusion, contradiction, and fear.
The world will change when people start talking and listening,
rather than merely accepting dogma.
And this should start within religion.
