An Unusual Pointing Out Instruction
This unusual pointing out instruction into the essence of mind is as follows:
Sit with eyes open, without straining.
Allow the whole scene to enter the eye as if everything is looking in.
That’s it.
There’s no time to consider anything – just a continuous stream of awareness.
Rest there, like that.
Notice if the mind jumps in, and merely return to being awareness.
This view can be experienced and realised anywhere, at any time.
I received this instruction many years ago from Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, the abbot of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal, and I didn’t ‘get it’. It took many more years to realise it’s that simple. š
I thought the instruction would be more ⦠elaborate ⦠but realised that original Dharma is simple and ordinary. When we reflect on this, we notice how the world has become overexcited and exaggerated, and people have therefore lost touch with this simplicity.
Just see.
