Are We Institutionalised Mavericks?

In taking someone else’s word as our own,
do we become branded ?

 Unbranded cattle which were not part of the herd came to be labelled as ‘mavericks’.

Realised masters removed their brand.
Unfortunately, their followers … well, you know what happens!

Institutionalised: apathetic and dependent on an institution. Conforming to an organisation or culture.

Maverick: an unorthodox or independent-minded person, an unbranded non-conformist.

Maverick: mid 19th century from the name of Samuel A. Maverick (1803–70), a Texas rancher who did not brand his cattle.
