WE EXAGGERATE THE TRUTH

We Exaggerate The Truth

When we exaggerate the truth, we become desensitised,
and exaggerate everything.

Humanity exaggerates, causing confusion and conflict, and more exaggeration. This is Mara’s vicious cycle of existence, denying people contentment.

“How can we be content with all the trouble in the world?!”
That comment illustrates the situation precisely.
🙂

Contentment is simply pure consciousness witnessing complexity without, and remaining balanced within. When we become practitioners of truth rather than intellectuals, we are no longer mystified.

We’re here to undo all the results of past misunderstandings and fixations by living a simple life of contemplation and meditation, dropping all exaggeration.

Exaggerating the truth is the opposite to truth.

THE DHARMA BRINGS OUT THE WORST IN US

The Dharma Brings Out The Worst In Us

😀
It’s ego.

Ego is consciousness clinging to ideas, which creates a hostile self.
When we (consciousness) drop clinging to ideas,
we are able to constantly adjust to situations to clarify them.

THE LIGHT OF CONSCIOUSNESS

The Light Of Consciousness

The light of consciousness is the light of wisdom.
It’s our true reality.

Our reality is the light or clarity of pure consciousness. This isn’t something we can talk about as it cannot be described; we can only realise it. It is the source of knowing. The light is never off but, through ignoring this essential reality, we identify with thoughts and -isms instead.

In the very moment of confusion about what we are, a gap occurs. This emptiness is the clear light of wisdom, but if we only read or hear about consciousness without experiencing it, these explanations become mixed up with thoughts and -isms again, and we forget what we are.

Thoughts are not wisdom.
Wisdom is knowingness before thoughts.

There are many theories about and names for the absolute nature of consciousness, and this causes conflict, confusion and separation when, in actuality, the experience is within, and common to all sentient beings.

The light is wakefulness.
Darkness is ignoring the light within.

HOW DO WE KNOW WE ARE AWAKE?

How Do We Know We Are Awake?

“But I am awake!”
Awake to what?

Just because we see things and react to them
doesn’t mean we’re awake to our reality.

We aren’t actually awake because we refer mechanically to memories, a continuous loop of ideas picked off the walls of the mind. We are repeaters.

Wakefulness arises when we recognise the habitual responses which hold us in this cyclic existence, limiting our full potential of realising pure consciousness. Coming out of the dream is seeing afresh, creating clarity by asking, “What is this response in my mind?”

Seeing afresh is not taking whatever is presented to us for granted. To an ordinary human mind, this will seem like pie-in-the-sky because it knows what to do or say – it’s done it all before. 🙂

A practitioner is someone who lives in spontaneous wakefulness.
The first step to waking up
is being dissatisfied with the same old sleep talk.

TWO APPROACHES TO SUFFERING: TENDERNESS OR DIRECTNESS

Two Approaches To Suffering: Tenderness Or Directness?

There are two ways to address suffering:
tenderness … “There, there; it’ll be all right.”
or direct clarity … “There’s the problem.”

Much depends on the temperament of the person who is seeking relief from suffering, and the person they’re listening to. Is it someone who pleases, or someone who is practical?

(An example: my wife went to a specialist to ask about her two knees and hip as they felt a bit stiff. He saw her walk and stared at her … “X-rays now!” She was shocked to hear that she needed three joint replacements … booked in immediately, they were that bad. Another doctor would have just given knee injections for temporary relief, as they did with my mum.)

If we need to alleviate mental suffering, we will want insightful direction to relieve that suffering. We can then empathise with others’ suffering – or knee joints. 🙂

If, on the other hand, we aren’t actually suffering, but want to hear something to feel good – something tender and uplifting to neutralised unpleasant feelings – we can get that too, but from that, we will never be able to empathise with others’ suffering.

We have a choice;
one approach that pleases, or one which addresses the cause.

There is much ’empty rhetoric’ in the world: eloquent speech without sufficient meaningful information, intended to convince and impress others.

Does the Sanskrit word Duhkha relieve suffering?
Does knowing the term Dharmakaya explain emptiness?
Does saying the word Shunyata help us to realise the pure essence of mind?
Does using the name Turiya allow us realise that which is reading these words?

When consciousness identifies with words, this obscures the reality of what we are now, and we suffer. Am I actually saying exotic terminologies cause confusion and suffering? Yes. So why use them?

The path to enlightenment cuts through
intellect, confusion, sentimentality and illusions.

JUST FOLLOWING ORDERS

Just Following Orders

Just following orders is just following words, which is the lowest form of intelligence, as we feel we’re immune from having to take responsibility.

The result is the dark history of the world through the adoption of ‘uni-formed’ thinking. The Solomon Asch experiment on conformity reveals how suggestion and obedience work, even though they cause pain.

An enlightened attitude is the ability to perceive clearly with no preconceived ideas, and take responsibility for our own actions.

It takes courage to stop following words for a moment and simply be, in the open space of non-conformity. Non-conformity is the absolute freedom of the individual, living in pure consciousness, free from words.

OBSERVING AND OBSERVATION IN MEDITATION

Observing And Observation In Meditation

Observation is non-dualistic.
It’s purely resting in awareness, being aware.

Observing is dualistic, as there is a relationship between
consciousness, thoughts, and trying to drop thoughts.

All the while, observation looks on.

OBSERVATION COMES BEFORE THOUGHTS

Observation Comes Before Thoughts

Observation comes before thoughts.
When we disregard or ignore this obvious truth, we become involved in conflicts. This pure observation is pure consciousness our reality. Consciousness isn’t some thing out there.

SEEING TOO MUCH

Seeing Too Much

Seeing too much can be depressing. Observing people around us entertaining their minds through staring at screens, reading the news, plugging in ear buds, chattering about their history. The screens, the news, the music, the chatter … the noise piles on insanity.

This is how an unenlightened humanity has been captured, by having things to complaining about or to find fascinating.

The only thing we can do is acknowledge this phenomenon, and not indulge in it – otherwise, it is we who are being entertained.

We first have to shake off our identification with everything we see and hear. We are the gap between words – pure consciousness. This uncontaminated empty space is our sanctuary, our divine splendour of clarity, our true reality.

IRREFUTABLE PROOF OF REALITY

Irrefutable Proof Of Reality

For something to be real, it can never not be real; it has to be constant. Space has that quality, and so does consciousness. There is a third aspect, and that is formula. Formula runs the universe: attraction, repulsion and inertia.

No one created this – it just happens. Two trees next to one another will not tangle branches. They each get the most out of the available light. Therefore, there is attraction to the light, repulsion from the shade, and inertia (a property of matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or  uniform motion, unless that state is changed by an external force).

Try to disprove this.
Then observe what is trying to disprove it;
it will be consciousness.

That is our reality.

HOW STUPID ARE WE?

How Stupid Are We?

It’s amazing how stupid we are.
We’re imprisoned by others’ words, and we’re proud of it.

Words are written for us to believe in, so much so that we consider those who don’t believe the same words to be our enemy. How stupid is that? People quote from books, but rarely do they quote from genuine experience. There is no experience in belief. Belief can make us do and create incredible things – music, art, poems, buildings, pills for everything – but we forget what it is that observes all this. Real beauty is in the consciousness of the beholder, not in something out there. We get carried away by fascination and sentimentality, but these are just temporary appearances which bind us to the past.

Mara knows our weakness – pride – and laughs.

WHY RELATIONSHIPS STOP …

Why Relationships Stop…

Why do relationships stop … and stay stopped?
Why can’t we put them right?

Is it the projection of our ‘product’, our mindset that others pick up? And why can no amount of effort put it right? We judge others to be not our type, and once that happens, we never want a relationship. It’s all based on the three poisons of I like, I dislike and I am indifferent.

This is exactly the opposite to the Dharma. The Dharma is pure seeing the obscurations and judgements in our own mind, not others. It’s what the Dharma is supposed to be but, in practice it isn’t. We all hang back. Why? It is the age of conflict and the degeneration of the Dharma, where we adhere to the form – the words, the rituals, the ideas – rather than actually having compassionate understanding.

No empathy, no compassion, no Dharma.
Know empathy, know compassion, know Dharma.

It isn’t words that changes us; it is the power of empathetic compassion that turns self-interest into wisdom, the deep appreciation of the true essence of all beings. When we are quick to shun others, we see them as an enemy, and we have lost the pure view.

Posted in Uncategorized | Tagged | Leave a comment

WE ALL HEAR AND SEE DIFFERENTLY

We All Hear And See Differently

The difference is in our personal mindset of memories – our translator. Every time we react or respond, our particular, peculiar mindset – the ‘product’ – is revealed. This mindset is activated when the brain sees something it recognises and lights up, before we (consciousness) are aware of it. This is known commercially as ‘brand awareness’. Our ‘product’ is picked up by others through their ‘brand awareness’.

Without even talking, we are attracted, put off or indifferent to others. When we’re aware of our habitual reactions, we recognise that communication is probably not possible. 🙂

Conscious communication is rare
as it needs an open conduit of pure consciousness both ways.

WE SHOULD NEVER ASSUME THAT WE’RE TALKING TO SANE PEOPLE

We Should Never Assume That We’re Talking To Sane People

People look sane until they start speaking, and then they reveal what’s in their minds.
We may think, “Surely there must be more! Perhaps they talk about reality at home?” 🙂

For over fifty years, I’ve been involved in ‘spiritual’ groups, and it was the same then. All one hears is dogma – do this, do this, do that. Dogma is a formula, a belief held definitively and without the possibility of reform.
Dogma: from the ancient Greek  – opinion, belief, judgement.

Reform isn’t about changing the words; it’s about personal experience of the meaning of those words, where we don’t just repeat them, we live them. Compassion is often spoken about, but rarely lived. Words create feelings – a duality, which is up for interpretation. Experience is non-duality where there is no form, just essence – pure awareness.

Duality is making a big deal of everything we see.
Non-duality is just seeing.

We are accountable for our every word and action = karma.

BELIEVING THE TRUTH

Believing The Truth

‘Believing the truth’ is an oxymoron.
Belief has been our greatest deception.
Belief is the opposite to knowing.
Belief obscures knowing.
Belief is suggestion.
Belief makes us stupid.

To believe is to accept that something is true without proof. We are governed by this principle, but if we believe the truth, then we will never know the truth. To know is to be aware, through observation and recognition.

All sentient beings are scientists, constantly weighing up situations and proving them. Only then can we actually know what is beneficial and what is harmful. Why would we believe anyone who believes? This make-believe reality, with its power of persuasion, has kept humanity in darkness for a very long time.

We are governed by deception.
Govern: from Latin gubernare, ‘to steer’.

So what is the truth that is indisputable, and in which no one has to believe?

It is conscious awareness; without this faculty, we wouldn’t have survived. We are stupid when we censor the clarity of awareness with our preconceived ideas.
It is conscious awareness; without this faculty, we wouldn’t have survived. We are stupid when we censor the clarity of awareness with our preconceived ideas.

Conscious awareness knows.
If we don’t know this,
then what do we know?

RECOGNITION

Recognition

Questions Induce Recognition
Questions aren’t about getting the answer.
Questions are about our answer along our path.
Interaction creates an open atmosphere
for the answer we need to know at that moment.

Looking Back On Stupidity
I look back on life and see how stupid I was – and why. It was the trauma of believing in hearsay, idle chatter and stories, which are all only words. Understanding how we are attracted and held by words creates empathy for others who are caught up in the same predicament.

The challenge is trying not to suggest that we all live in stupidity. 🙂

The Joy Of Letting Go Of The Past
The joy of letting go of past traumas
is the release from suffering.

If You Want To Understand The Actual Dharma
If you want to understand the actual Dharma,
look at what’s looking.
It’s cheaper,
and it tells us everything we need to know.

MEDITATION HAS TO BE PRACTICAL

Meditation Has To Be Practical

If meditation isn’t changing our attitude, speech and conduct into insight and wisdom, then we are still controlled by thoughts, memories and beliefs. We can spend hours or months meditating in retreat, and still no change has occurred. Why is this? We’ve only learnt to calm down, and act nicely.

Practical meditation is seeing through the facade with direct insight and wisdom through empathetic understanding. Our conduct is about channelling clarity and perception in the moment now; it’s not about our thoughts, memories and beliefs that we still carry around.

Conduct: from Latin ‘brought together’, management of oneself and behaviour. (The original form of the word was conduit, in the sense of ‘channel’.)

Being ‘practical’ is being not too wet and not too dry.
Be fluid.

MARA’S WORLD

Mara’s World

Awareness: “It’s What We Have, To Do Things With”.

That is what most of us think and, as a result, we ignore our true reality. People become competitive, outdoing one another and creating conflict. We either believe in a soul which has awareness, or we think that chemicals in the brain have awareness or consciousness. Both are vague ideas which play a part in the conflict of Mara’s world.

It never occurs to us that we are conscious awareness, before our identity of a Mara-self-image. Life on earth could be so different; we wouldn’t be trying to outdo one another, but would be a support. When we support others, we attract blessings.

The moment we realise what we all have in common
– consciousness –
we wake up a little.

The moment we realise the absolute truth about consciousness
– that it is pure –
we will never want to disturb others,
as that would be playing Mara’s game again, attracting Mara’s blessings.

We’re not here for Mara to savour.
We are here as the saviour of our own Mara-mind.
🙂

Mara: the demonic side of our mind, ruled by likes and dislikes.

CAPTIVATED BY STORIES

Captivated By Stories

We are captivated by art, music, films, books, news, religion, sport, science, politics, conversations … all telling stories about the past. It’s a mental prison that we’re proud to repeat.

Consciousness captured, we are a constant audience. As long as our attention is secured, we will never realise that consciousness has been mesmerised by being either vacant or occupied. This denies us freedom and natural wisdom.

Through meditation and the pointing out instruction, we will realise that our true reality is pure empty consciousness, beyond all those stories in our mind which write our daily script.

We need courage not to repeat the past.
Courage: the seat of feelings, from Latin, cor ‘heart’.

ANYONE CAN LEARN THE DHARMA

Anyone Can Learn The Dharma

Anyone can learn facts about the Dharma and sound authentic, but do they have insight? We so easily fall into line with anything exotic – from Greek exōtikos ‘foreign’ – because we’re dissatisfied with our life, and so we’re looking for something else – an upgrade.

The Dharma isn’t foreign, but the way in which it’s displayed is. The Dharma is all about our true reality, here and now, which is not something exotic. If we make it exotic, we create a form, and worshipping that form makes us fanatical and uncompromising.

This causes conflict which has two aspects; we either act in a hostile way towards others, or we shun them. Both of these result in seeing others as an enemy, an outsider, a foreigner. 🙂

This is the age of conflict, and it shows.

Insight is wisdom
It’s knowing the cause of manifestations intuitively,
rather than relying on what’s written down.

When an individual experiments, experiences and verifies,
they know what they can trust.

THE DEGENERATION OF THE DHARMA

The Degeneration Of The Dharma

The degeneration of the Dharma in degenerate times.\
As foretold by Padmasambhava (circa 8th – 9th century).

Degenerate: the change from a higher to a lower form.

There is definitely a decline in society, with social unrest orchestrated by the political powers of Mara. Because of human ignorance, there are natural cycles in behaviour.

Humanity focuses more on belief and ritual, rather than realising the essence of the Buddha’s teachings, and thus, awakening is rare. People are no longer capable of putting the teachings into practice; they merely act them out, faking it … and getting easily upset. 🙂

The few who realise the real Dharma with genuine compassion for all, await Maitreya, the future Buddha, within.

‘PATH’MEANS LEVELS OF UNDERSTANDING

‘Path’ Means Levels Of Understanding

Our path is not one idea, one identity that we carry along with us. Our path is a continuous refinement of understanding, which means constantly dropping what we thought we knew, and the type of person we were.

Holding on to any ideas of self, culture, race, religion, words, we end up in hell, talking about our past, where no progress is made while we just use jargon to impress the impressionable.

At the bottom of the comments list on this page is an image of Padmasambhava; I find him both totally scary, and a reminder. 🙂

(Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, lived circa 8-9th century, and made several prophecies about the future of Buddhism and world events. Some of these include predictions about the spread of Buddhism, the degeneration of the Dharma, and the arrival of Maitreya, the future Buddha.)

SHATTERING YOUR COMPOSURE

Shattering Your Composure

If your composure can be shattered, it’s fake. However, at that very moment when we are in shock, a gap arises. This is emptiness. Pure consciousness.

Our composure is fragile until we have no self to maintain. When we stop holding on to an image of our self we are released. It might feel uncomfortable as it’s unfamiliar; we just jumped out of our programme, but gradually, we recognise the spaciousness of pure consciousness that cannot be destroyed or shattered.

Being out of the loop is ‘crazy wisdom’.

BEING A CONSTANT PESSIMIST

Being A Constant Pessimist

Pessimism: a belief that this world is as bad as it could be or that evil will ultimately prevail over goodness.

Being governed by negativity, we will find fault in everything – except ourselves – as we are always looking through a tainted microscope. A philosopher will say that nothing can be proven. This is because they’re only concerned with theories.

No hope comes from not knowing what goodness is. If we know what goodness is, we will understand that good will always prevail because we realise that pure consciousness can never be destroyed.

The realisation of pure consciousness is the practical evidence we need in order to know goodness, because it is from clarity that everything may be known, and true compassion can arise as we recognise the true nature of all beings. Goodness is clarity – an open mind.

Negativity expresses itself in denial and a refusal to accept unpleasant situations that are ultimately the path to salvation – enlightenment. These circumstances force us to face facts about our self image and our tainted views.

Knowing that we are a constant pessimist is also a path to freedom. How? We have something to work with: our pride.

THE TRAUMATISATION OF HUMANITY

The Traumatisation Of Humanity

Throughout history, humans have been traumatised by information/news/entertainment, which is programming that leads us away from our true reality. Unable to feel content, we constantly look for something different, and become addicts of the new. This is our vicious cycle of existence.

Everything we read and hear causes some sort of stress or trauma; it either creates fear and unease, or it charms and excites us. We mindlessly mimic one another, which is the very opposite to uncovering our individual potential of realising what we are.

What are we?
We are simply pure awareness that is always present, but which is distracted by that programming.

This traumatisation creates a judgemental mentality, and we become poseurs, behaving affectedly in order to impress others. When we’re listening to people, we’re listening to variations of stress.

To break out of this cycle of existence, we have to recognise the part we’re playing in it. We complain, not realising that we are participants.

Are we interested in the greatest story ever told, or the greatest truth ever told?
Stories traumatise.
Truth sets us free.

What is truth?
Truth is that everything in the infinite universe is impermanent, having no reality.
That which sees and hears this ever-changing universe never changes.

That is our reality.
It’s just pure awareness.

Realisation sets us free.

THERE IS NO DHARMA IN THE PRESENT MOMENT

There Is No Dharma In The Present Moment

In the present moment, there is nothing to hold on to
– not even the Dharma, words, devotion …
These separate us into a duality – me and something.

The greatest trick evil ever played
was to make people believe in words.

The real Dharma is the present moment.
What else is emptiness?

Dharma without hardship … without anything.

WHAT IS WELL-BEING?

What Is Well-Being?

Knowing is well-being.

Wanting to know about truth
indicates that we don’t know the truth.

We are merely being occupied by words and concepts.

Reading texts, and attending lectures and retreats means that we doubt. When we know the truth of our being, which is pure consciousness, we can then utilise all life’s ordinary appearances to negate (make ineffective) the illusion of the reality of temporary phenomena. It is an illusion because we’re still believing appearances to be real. We believe that knowing about the Dharma is true knowing, when it merely makes us proud – and defensive.

There is no Dharma in the moment now.
Knowing is well-being.

BEING TAKEN OVER

Being Taken Over

Capturing the mind en masse is a war we never noticed.

We don’t notice that we’ve been taken over by a gradual cultural change until it is too late. When people have taken on ideas, they’ve have been assimilated. We’ve been processed. People self-censor without noticing, which means they cannot be honest or trustworthy. Our communication skills are woefully inadequate, and we never realise that there are those who are out-thinking us.

An example: we may feel good about ourselves playing a game, not realising someone else wrote the rules. We think we know everything because we catch up with the news, not realising that someone chose what we read – and that someone could even be AI nowadays.

We are kept in a maze of concepts. Our culture is being managed in the guise of evolving, but in reality, we are conforming to chaos and conflict, and this will then be used to create more aggressive processing.

When we know our own mind, the essence of which is pure consciousness, we are free to see with clarity – divine splendour. Never say, “I know my own mind.” What is this ‘I’ that knows?

In the first instant of anger or annoyance, wisdom or pure consciousness is present. Something is seen and the mind brightens – that moment is our reality of divine splendour – but then, our processing kicks in and we are captured again with an emotion, and we react.

We merely have to notice this processing, and we are free.
Enlightenment is never being taken over by appearances.

WHAT PEOPLE SEE AND DON’T SEE

What People See And Don’t See

Which is more amazing –
what people see, or what people ignore?

Magic is the art of deception. It has captivated and enthralled us for over 2,500 years. The first recorded magic act was by the magician Dedi, who performed his tricks in Ancient Egypt in 2,700 BCE – and we’ve been watching magic ever since.

The art is not in what is done; it’s in the words, which keep us in thrall.
Thrall: from Old English thrǣl ‘slave’, from Old Norse thræll.

It takes place in theatres and temples, and on screens.
Why?
In childhood, we learn to believe, and that stays with us as a trauma.

WHAT IS ‘GOING WITH THE FLOW’?

What Is ‘Going With The Flow’?

Whatever comes our way is due to our previous decisions that cause our re-actions now. It’s our programmed mindset, which is called karma in Sanskrit. Karma is showing us our judgemental re-actions which just create further karma, maintaining our fixated view of life and therefore perpetuating conflict and suffering.

Whether pleasant or unpleasant, every situation is potentially our teacher to release us from our habitual, limited way of thinking.

When people assume that there’s only one way to live, they suffer, and think that change isn’t possible. They go up and down, round and round, following adopted ideas. Realisation is working in the opposite direction to this conventional, not-so-merry-go-round

In ‘going with the flow’, life qualities of tolerance, perseverance, discipline, morality, concentration and wisdom develop. These refined qualities let us off the merry not-so-merry-go-round, and we become a witness, rather than witless. 🙂

What Is More Important?

What is more important,
our thoughts or the awareness of those thoughts?

One is our original reality, while the other is our interpretation,

while the other divides us.

When we actually realise what is important,
all conflict stops.

WHAT IF ENLIGHTENMENT ISN’T…

What If Enlightenment Isn’t …

What if enlightenment
isn’t
as supernatural as we’re led to believe?

There are stories. We like stories. This isn’t meant to be detrimental to religion, but there is essence in the teachings of compassionate wisdom, and then there are the forms and words.

What if we take away the robes, rituals, culture and words? What’s left? The essence of wisdom.

If we think enlightenment is the otherworldly presented in ritual, this will suggest it’s out of reach at this moment, and only meant for the special few. So we live in hope of becoming special by reading books, going to lectures and retreats, and looking for the door that says ‘Exit’. 🙂

What if enlightenment is just what we are now,
warts and all, but without obsessing?
Just pure consciousness.

Being happy with how things are now
with no hope of anything more
is quite a statement.

IDEAS SEPARATE PEOPLE

Ideas Separate People

It’s obvious that ideas separate people, but we still cling to our ideas.
Why?

It’s a habit, and it’s wilful – this is me, that’s you – so we appear to different, while in essence we’re not. We all hold on to our ideas because of a subtle fear of being misunderstood.

As long as we hold on to ideas – political, religious, scientific, cultural, racial, social – we take sides, and therefore, we see others as not like us, even if they’re interested in the same subjects as us.

What actually unites us is pure awareness, which is always present before our ideas. but which we ignore. It is this subtle ignorance that causes the conflicts in the world.

Once we cling to an idea about life, we fossilise our self image – this is me, that’s you. Realising what we are is an extremely rare event, where we’re always seeing things afresh. There are no mechanical replies. We ask,“What is this reaction ..?”

In realisation, there is a constant assimilation – an absorption and integration in the process of becoming one with whatever appears.

The light of clarity acknowledges the darkness;
the darkness reminds the light of our true reality.

The light is the clarity of pure awareness.

MATERIALISTS AND NON-MATERIALISTS

Materialists and Non-Materialists

Materialists are never satisfied.
Non-materialists recognise that there is no satisfaction in materialism.

Materialists are fascinated by matter and the manipulation of matter.
Non-materialists recognise that matter is merely a vehicle.

Materialists want a ‘perfect’ world and are zero-tolerant; they are thus dissatisfied.
Non-materialists know that the world is perfect, and is the cause of enlightenment.

The more materialistic the world becomes, the more dissatisfied people become,
and the more people will realise that happiness isn’t in the materialistic mind.

LED ASTRAY

Led Astray

“Woe to a world that leads people astray!”

Leading people led astray is making them believe something that’s not true,
causing them to take wrong decisions.

In order to be led astray, something has to be believable – not an outright lie. It’s a suggestion that we live with and, through repetition, this becomes our norm. Human weakness is to believe and, due to belief, we create a story to maintain and justify this belief. Belief brings about conflict; it’s a distraction pointing in another direction, away from inner awareness. Once we are led astray, we become lost and vulnerable and, as a result, reactive.

When we realise what we are,
we’re no longer dependent, and never lost.

EXISTENTIALISM IS A MISNOMER

Existentialism Is A Misnomer

Existentialism: a philosophical theory which emphasises the existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent determining their own development through acts of the will.

The misunderstanding here is that it makes us believe we have free will in our own development, when we are actually puppets to others’ ideas. Existentialism is an illusion promoted by pseudo-intellectuals who think but do not look, and so cannot see.

What is free will?
Is it the mind or consciousness?

Exist: from Latin exsistere ‘to come into being’.
What comes into being?
A consciousness governed by emotions of pride, hope and fear…

Our true reality, which is pure consciousness, has the potential of free will only when consciousness realises its true reality, and is no longer governed by others’ thoughts.

It is consciousness that observes the plotting in the mind.

BLAMING THE DISTRACTION

Blaming The Distraction

There is suffering in the world, and we blame the effects but not the actual causes. Nothing just happens; problems are orchestrated by the ‘right elements’ in order to create suffering and produce a desired effect. Why? To control the narrative. We cannot blame nature, so we blame human intervention, but blaming the effect obscures the intention in the cause.

We should never accept whatever we are told as that’s always someone else’s version. The Buddha said, “Don’t take my words for the truth; test them for yourself”. These words were spoken for a very good reason, as adhering to words alone is either misinterpretation or can be used to orchestrate an agenda, whether religious, political or other. If this is true for the Buddha’s words, it’s true for lamas and gurus and philosophers and the presenters of the news – and anyone we meet. They are all echoes.

Orchestra: Latin from Greek orkheisthai, ‘to dance’.
To dance to someone else’s tune.

Don’t even trust your own mind – it’s reverberating with echoes. Trust pure awareness that is without comment, bringing intuition and insight where no words exist.

The blame game is endemic in life. It’s always someone else’s fault. We are not going to put the world right, as so many take sides and become extremists.

Silent observation is the way: our path.

IS ENLIGHTENMENT SIMPLE, OR OUT OF REACH?

Is Enlightenment Simple, Or Out Of Reach?

Enlightenment’s simple.
There is nothing to it!
🙂

If we become stuck with the idea that our true reality is something out of reach, extra special, secret with complicated rituals, we will remain half-hearted about enlightenment, and enthusiastic about the rituals. There is no potential in this – just hope – when we are already what we seek.

It’s religion that has made enlightenment (or wisdom) an elaboration.

We have a choice. Enlightenment is either something to hear about and chant mantras about, or it is right here, right now, spontaneously present, without an off-switch.

How do we know when we’re enlightened? We’re already enlightened, but we ignore it.
Pure consciousness is already present, but obscured either by indifference, or enthusiastic performances. 🙂

Between every thought, there is a gap.
We are this gap.
It’s that simple.

Or we can do more mantras.

How does this seem to you?

THE ANCIENT TEACHINGS AREN’T ANCIENT

The Ancient Teachings Aren’t Ancient

The ancient teachings on the ultimate truth about our reality aren’t ancient, they are timeless. The ultimate truth is here right now, the very essence of all sentient beings. It is the actual meaning of life.

Most choose to ignore the truth that we are, first and foremost, pure consciousness. It’s neither exotic nor mysterious, although we believe it is because of intercessors (those who intervene on our behalf).

We’re all following something; does it free or bind?
Just being is beyond name, fame and gain.

If we think enlightenment is something to understand and think about. we’re facing in the opposite direction. We will never realise happiness until it is unconditional – not subject to conditions.

Enlightenment is just being; it’s not at all interesting. 🙂

Aye, and there’s the rub:
we do not value the blazing splendour,
the bright light of clarity.

We prefer to follow others.

OMNISCIENCE – KNOWING EVERYTHING

Omniscience – Knowing Everything

An enlightened being is said to be omniscient. What does that mean?

Realisation is obviously not beyond humanity, as all sentient beings have the potential to become enlightened.

It’s also obvious that enlightenment is beyond ordinary, mundane human understanding.

What if everything we’ve been led to believe about omniscience is a fantasy – stories to confuse and make ordinary people feel they’re not good enough?

What if omniscient enlightenment is more straightforward? Nobody walks on water. Nobody flies through the air. Nobody does magic, except magicians who enjoy deceiving others.

What if, to know everything, we merely have to know the simple laws of the infinite universe that everything and everyone unconsciously obey, while realising there are subtler aspects of these laws, seen as a unity of emptiness, cognisance and compassion – pure consciousness itself. What happens under our noses also happens a billion light years away in infinite space – attraction, repulsion and inertia.

When was the last time an ‘enlightened’ being was on earth? There are know-alls who behave as if they know everything, 🙂 what if genuine knowing is much simpler, much purer, and so goes unnoticed.

Omniscience is pure consciousness that does not stray into distraction.
Of course, if you know better, we’d like to hear it 🙂

YOU HAVE TO BE VERY INTELLIGENT

You Have To Be Very Intelligent

You have to be very intelligent
to realise how stupid you are.

You have therefore transcended your stupidity.
🙂

Never underestimate stupidity;
it is the cause of suffering.

THE ‘NEWS’ CREATES EMOTIONS

The ‘News’ Creates Emotions

Be very aware when the ‘news’ creates high emotions – it’s meant to.
‘News’ is psychological manipulation to stir up the mind.

This is why the ‘news’ media and the internet bombard us with ‘interesting’ things that attract us, repulse us, or make us remain indifferent, all of which puts us back to sleep, in a dream.

At any moment, we can wake up and remember our true reality, just being spontaneously present.

BELIEF IS ADDICTION

Belief Is Addiction

Belief is addition, and we are born into addiction.

Ideas are beliefs that we adopt and become addicted to;
these are then considered to be more important than friendship.

We don’t like people who don’t believe what we believe.
It’s belief that separates us.

Our commonality is pure perception,
before our adopted ideas.

Belief makes this a stupid world
where we all walk around in-formation.
🙂

LEAVING THE AUDITORIUM

Leaving the Auditorium

We live in a theatre, repeating our script every day, and making our entrances and exits. Karma sees to it that we are always on cue, our signal for reaction. All the while, we misuse the space in which we dwell, unable to break out of character.

Conscious awareness stops all acting by asking, “What am I doing here? How did this awful play come about?” 🙂

Realising our true reality of just being (pure consciousness), we are released from the performance. In other words, we’re free. And we realise we are on our own.

The shock is that everyone is on the stage,
and the audience is the producers 🙂

The wise have left the auditorium.
Happiness is the relief of not having to do this all again.

MAKING A MOUNTAIN OUT OF A MOLE HILL

Making A Mountain Out Of A Mole Hill

Making a mountain out of a mole hill is an exaggerated belief that misinterprets the reality, thus making too much out of minor issues. This is how Mara (demonic mind) subtly works.

The great picture is ‘not two’ – non-duality.
The minor picture is the reminders of ‘me’ and an ‘object’ – duality.

That is where Mara slips in.

There are two approaches to understanding the essence of mind, which is pure consciousness. One is realising the great (Maha) picture, while the other becomes involved in the details (which is a lower vehicle).

The amateur approach is to talk about things, thus complicating everything by creating yet more minor issues.
The other approach is the skilful method of getting the job done smoothly by going with the flow. 🙂

ONCE WE REALISE THE TRUTH

Once We Realise The Truth

Once we realise the truth,
we realise what is a substitute for the truth.

THE THING ABOUT REALISATION …

The Thing About Realisation

The thing about realisation …
it’s spontaneous.

Realisation isn’t a learnt thing that we carry around – one formula which suits all.
Spontaneity is the present moment now, without ideas or judgments, just perception.

In emptiness we are panoramic vision, where we take it all in.
Spontaneity is focusing to see whatever is needed,
then returning to panoramic vision.

Belief is not an aid to truth.
