WHAT IS HAPPINESS?

What Is Happiness?

The way in which we define happiness will govern our life. If we think that happiness is dependent, then we’re relying on conditions which are, by reason, temporary.

If there is conditional happiness, there must be unconditional happiness.
True happiness is being free of conditions, and that is clarity without fixations or obsessions.

We live in a complex mess, and we put up with this complex unhappy-mess with its bits of excitement that occur and disappear, and go looking for more of the same. This is addictive behaviour.

Spiritual retreats can be like that – we feel we have to go ‘somewhere’ to find peace. We can’t escape this world of conditions, but we can realise the natural peace within, anywhere. The worse the situation, the better, as it tests our stability.

The path to enlightenment is the middle way
– the balance between
the extreme suffering of the lower realms
and the extreme pleasure of the higher realms.

We can either follow others’ unhappiness,
or learn from them.

WHO’S RUNNING YOUR WORLD?

Who’s Running Your Life?

Who’s running your life?
Or rather, what’s running your life?

We may think it’s governments, corporations, secret societies … but what’s running them?
They may think that they are the rulers of the galaxy – but it couldn’t be further from the truth. 🙂

The simple gross laws of the infinite universe (attraction, repulsion and inertia) aren’t a joke or a simulation being played; it’s just how things are in an infinite universe. All we have to do is observe.

It’s likes, dislikes and indifferences that are running our life. We think this is natural and that it’s always been this way. It isn’t and it hasn’t. This belief is bound to the physical and mental world by stories that twist the truth to confuse conscious beings and promote the creation of a self identity. Stories are our programming.

The solution is to realise that that which notes this illusion is consciousness: pure, compassionate consciousness. This is our reality. ‘Pure’ may be called emptiness, shunyata, God, dzogchen, tao, zen, mahamudra, turiya, or uncontaminated awareness …

Here’s the twist in the story:
Consciousness is the natural state of mind – emptiness – but we fill it with attraction, desire, memories and stories.
Being full of concepts, we start judging: this creates our dislikes, repulsions and fears.
Because of dislikes, we forfeit compassion, ignoring our and others’ true reality of pure consciousness.

This gross relative reality of ignoring our true reality creates a separate self, which is the cause of suffering.

Those who think that they run the world suffer from intense likes and dislikes, and see to it that the rest of us stay locked in obsessions, while they believe they’re immune. These beings are the ‘gods’ who deliberately misinform so that we stay as semi-gods, humans, animals, hungry ghosts, and hell beings.

All the while we have been enlightened beings
who learnt to forget what we are.

The ‘six realms’ refers to the six realms of existence in Buddhist cosmology, into which beings can be reborn, based on their karma.

Cosmology: from Greek kosmos ‘order’ or ‘world’.

God realm (Deva): beings who experience temporary pleasure which breeds arrogance.

Semi-god realm (Asura): also known as the jealous god realm, these beings are powerful but constantly engage in conflict due to jealousy.

Human realm (Manusha): a realm with a balance of pleasure and pain, considered a unique opportunity for enlightenment because it is a middle ground between the extreme suffering of the lower realms and the extreme pleasure of the higher realms.

Animal realm (Tiryak): this realm is characterised by a lack of humour.

Hungry Ghost realm (Preta): beings in this realm suffer from insatiable hunger and thirst due to greed.

Hell realm (Naraka): the realm of extreme suffering caused by hatred and negative actions.

Our problem is that we become so involved with knowing about the six realms (as we do with all information) that we don’t actually experience them – they merely become yet another kind of programming.

We experience them when emotions arise and we see what we’ve been doing and living by. That first instant of recognition is wisdom – that’s if we let go of our pride.

This is the practice of eliminating karma, and the path to realising enlightenment.

IF YOU HAVE LONGING, TRY SHORTING

If You Have Longing, Try Shorting

🙂

‘Longing’ is wishful thinking and belief – the machinations of religion, philosophy, and opinions that are long and winding roads.
‘Shorting’ is direct experience of the realisation of pure consciousness: our original being, right now.

Shorting is the low resistance of clarity, bypassing the route we’re supposed to take through a short cut or direct flow.

All book learning is the long and winding road leading us no-where, while experience is now-here.

Religion, philosophy and opinions fill up time.
Direct experience is timeless.

When we’re caught up in others’ ideas, we are relating, which is a duality.
Direct seeing – pure consciousness – is non-duality.

CAUSING A CAUSE

Causing A Cause

A ‘feint’ is pretending to go in one direction, with the intention of going the other way. The purpose is to cause a reaction. Conflicts and wars start in this way; they are intentional and people are provoked into reacting.

This is why it’s important to remain detached, and stay in control. Narcissistic minds want a reaction – this is Mara at work. Out of kindness, we don’t react, releasing the provocateur from accumulating bad karma.

Think of provocateurs as hungry ghosts who never have enough attention. When we remain clear and kind, they have nothing to fight against except their our mind.

Every dark emotion is within the minds of all sentient beings.
Recognising this is the path to enlightenment.

LOOKING AT ALL SIDES

Looking At All Sides

To be open-minded, we need to look at all sides, all views. Are the people who hold these views open or closed? Can they communicate, or do they just talk?

To know the truth of our reality, we must first be decent human beings with genuinely open hearts.

The essence of all beings is compassionate pure consciousness, but if we turn away from those who see differently, we are contaminated with self-importance. Once we understand our true reality, we start to see how and why we were led astray, sidetracked by illusions of separateness while, in reality, our essence is uncontaminated consciousness.

We’re not going to experience our reality
just by chanting mantras and words.

To know the truth of our reality,
we must first be decent human beings with genuine, open hearts.

Recognising the illusion we’re under is the authenticity of pure awareness.
– and the path to enlightenment.

FRAGILE EGO OR SKY-DANCER?

Fragile Ego Or Sky-Dancer?

Ego is merely consciousness identifying with ideas that feel personal; we call this ‘me’, and become annoyed when it’s threatened. The painful path of egoism is excessive conceit or self absorption as the foundation of moral behaviour.

“Sky-Dancer”:
one who flies in the sky of bliss and emptiness.
Our natural state.

WHAT IF REINCARNATION IS A REALITY?

What If Reincarnation Is A Reality?

If reincarnation is a reality,
does that change our attitude?

In an infinite universe, there is an infinite number of beings in an infinite number of places suitable for life to exist. We cannot assume that we will reincarnate on Earth, and therefore beings from other places can reincarnate here. This could be the reason why we’re born with certain tendencies, which are totally different from others. Some people are very aggressive while others show inclinations of wisdom. It may also account for some feeling that they are in the wrong body, the wrong gender.

We may not reincarnate with two legs; four-legged creatures who’ve had close contact with kind two-legged creatures may reincarnate having two legs. We could be surrounded by beings looking for a home, looking for kindness, goodness and stability.

We can all make mistakes. Wherever we land up, we have to deal with life as it is now, created by karma – our past tendencies.

Life is a rehearsal – from Old French: a repeating, from rehercier, ‘to go over again’.

As we ascend the levels of realisation, we play new parts.

No change, no ascension.
Know change, know ascension.

WHAT THE MEDIA NEVER TALKS ABOUT

What The Media Never Talks About

The media – or rather, what’s behind the media – will never talk about that which we have in common: pure consciousness.

Once we realise we are pure consciousness, then we know what isn’t pure.

Pure means uncontaminated.

BELIEFISM

Beliefism

We all fall for it:-) We look at a video or blog and think “That’s interesting” or “That’s true”, and we assume we know it, when we’ve only collected information. This is just a belief, which is acceptance without experience; to know, we have to put it into practice, and then we have evidence as to whether it’s true or not. Only then, our attitude and behaviour in life changes.

There are a lot of clever people out there, taking bits of information and presenting them as the picture. Religions, science, politics, social justice all do the same thing. It may or may not be intentional, but we all get hooked – addicted – in one way or another.

We may know how to make beautiful art, fascinating structures and clever inventions, all of which capture our imagination … but make us dependent.

Belief can never be wisdom.
Belief is multifarious,
having many aspects which causes conflict.

Wisdom is that which sees this silly behaviour,
and knows why this behaviour is silly.
🙂

UNDERSTANDING IS HAPPINESS

Understanding Is Happiness

Understanding is direct experience of how something works. Even better understanding lies in knowing how it all works.

Everything is created by attraction and repulsion. Our lives are held together by our likes and dislikes which have no reality are just reactions of body and mind. All the while, we ignore the presence of conscious awareness – our actual reality.

When we don’t understand something, we dither and become indecisive. This isn’t happiness. Belief is merely addiction. Wisdom is knowing how to apply knowledge for a happy ending – a problem solved.

WORDS ARE PARASITES

Words Are Parasites

Parasites rule.

Parasite: an organism that lives in or on another species (its host) and benefits by deriving nutrients at the other’s expense.

Parasites need a host. They consume the resources of the host and alter that host’s behaviour for their own survival, replicating into a new host.

Words are like brand awareness, in that they get into our brain and hijack it before we even know it. The language we acquire controls the way in which we perceive; we see through others’ words, and that becomes our world, our picture.

Meanwhile, pure consciousness is wordless.

MADE TO IDENTIFY

Made To Identify

Made to identify.
Made to measure.
Made to conform.

From birth, we are made to identify with something: culture, education, family, language, religion, social standing, fashion, diet, music, sport, career, politics … and we carry around an ID card – an electronic label – to see if we are following the rules. We are supposed to act as if we’re confused or surprised, pretending we don’t see … and we’re expected to validate others’ identifications.

We are none of the above.
Whose game are we playing?
We don’t have an original thought.

All this identification creates a self. We’re told to be ‘true to our self’, and our makers want us to stay that way as part of the production line to ensure more of the same, generation after generation.

How do we break out?

Realisation is breaking out of this system by knowing what we originally are – pure consciousness. We merely have to drop all attachments through silent awareness.

Knowing what we are is a piece of cake.
Dropping attachments is more difficult.
🙂

Your life is not what you think.

WORDS ARE NOT THE TRUTH

Words Are Not The Truth

Words are about the truth – not the truth itself.

Words represent an experience.
If we just learn and repeat words without experience,
we come into conflict with those who do experience.

Best to live in silence,
with an occasional word for the occasional occasion.

VACANT, OCCUPIED OR AWARE

Vacant, Occupied Or Aware

Know the difference.

Vacancy is a state of ignoring – oblivion, torpor, indifference.
Occupied is a state of concern – relating, involvement, busy-ness.
Awareness is our original state of knowing – consciousness, cognisance.

It’s vital to understand
that awareness is always present,
but becomes sidetracked.

We oscillate between different states due to a belief in a self that creates desires and fears. All the while, pure awareness – which has no desires or fears – remains the silent witness. We can know exactly what is going on in our mind through this practice, testing the teaching and letting go, rather than just repeating words or chants.

Realise that pure awareness
is our original state of being.

Through this realisation, we go through life mindfully, reducing the effects of karma by seeing the effects of karma. By being aware of this, we break out of our programmed karma.

Testing the teaching is watching when we go into vacancy or occupancy, and become distracted. This is the teaching, and the practice. Awareness is macro- or micro- consciousness – we can either take on the whole scene or focus on the details, but we’re never distracted by concepts.

Enlightenment is exhausting all the karmic effects of our past
which we cling to and carry around with us.

WHAT IS CONSCIENCE?

What Is Conscience?

Conscience: a person’s moral sense of right and wrong that guides their behaviour. Inner knowledge, from Latin conscire, ‘with’ + scire ‘know’.

What else could conscience be? 🙂
Does it speak to us?
What if that which people call ‘God’ is just conscience?

Were books written thousands of years ago that changed inner knowledge into thought?
Knowledge is a fact; thought is an interpretation.

DROPPING THE MEDITATION

Dropping The Meditation

Meditation is the reminder to be aware.
Once we recognise that we’re aware,
we no longer need reminding.

If we hold on to the meditation,
it’s just something to pass the time.

When the instruction of meditation comes our way,
we join the path of wisdom-compassion.

Dropping takes just a moment.
Forgetting takes just a moment.
Then we meditate again – and drop it again.

BUDDHISM, PURE CONSCIOUSNESS AND GOD

Buddhism, Pure Consciousness and God

Understanding is happiness.
Belief is pretend happiness: accepting without knowing.

It’s vital to know the difference.

Belief is relating to an external force.
It is a mental state of duality – a habitual pattern of separation and conflict.

God is actually our inner state of pure consciousness.
The Book is us.
The Dharma is us.

If we want to know the way to go, the answer is within.
This guide is karma.

WIDENING OUR VIEW

Widening Our View

Widening our view for complete realisation without upsetting anyone.

What we call ‘pure consciousness’ and ‘God’ are the same thing.
We are both pure consciousness and God.

There are those who talk about something out there, up there, down there, using sayings such as “As above, so below” and “We are one with God”, which the cause of great confusion, conflict and misery.

Intuition is the ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning. This is God, our highest part of pure consciousness.

Whatever we need to know comes from pure consciousness. It’s where knowledge and wisdom originate.

What we call ‘me’ is consciousness adopting and identifying with thoughts and calling that ‘myself’. These thoughts are never our own; we only borrow them.

When consciousness drops all concepts, the mind lights up and pure consciousness is present.

As a ‘Buddhist’, God-pure-consciousness illumines hell,
and that clears our path to enlightenment.

How did it all start?
In an infinite universe, there is no beginning.
In infinite consciousness, there is no beginning.

DHARMA ISN’T A THERAPY

Dharma Isn’t A Therapy

It is a great misunderstanding to think that practising Dharma will help us lead an untroubled life. Nothing could be further from the truth. Dharma is not a therapy, or an antidote for dissatisfaction.

It’s the opposite. Dharma turns our life upside down – that’s if we want change. When our life seems more unpleasant, we are merely noticing samsara (hell) more.

If the aim of our practice is to feel safe and secure, this is a sign that we’re not actually practising; we are just going through the routines of worldly activities. Noting samsara is our practice; it’s the method we use to realise nirvana (pure consciousness), here and now.

We are Dharma – the book of knowledge that needs no books.

This is what distinguishes the Dharma from New Age methods of ‘feelings’. From the point of view of Dharma, such interests are the toys of samsaric hell beings. They are toys to confuse us.

SILENCE IS OUR SHIELD

Silence Is Our Shield

We often become involved and trapped in others’ worlds, and this feels like hypnosis. Not becoming involved doesn’t mean that we don’t care.

People are driven by their desires or fears which create their opinions. We want to show that we care. We all want a better life and a better world, but our reactions are too extreme to effect a change. Telling others to change will not change anything; we only achieve conflict. Exaggeration leaves us vulnerable – actual change is subtle.

Subtlety happens at a level of consciousness which affects the mind. Change occurs in consciousness when we are detached from others’ ideas.

Empathy depends on our level of change.
Silence is our shield; we don’t give off signals.

BEING CARRIED AWAY BY THE ‘INTERESTING’

Being Carried Away By The ‘Interesting’

There is so much fascinating suggestion online of superhuman abilities and mind control. It’s interesting how easily we are influenced by believing these ‘suggestions. This is how the masses can be hypnotised by a single thought.

Hypnosis: the induction of a state of mind in which a person apparently loses the power of voluntary action, and is highly responsive to suggestion or direction, suppressing memories or  allowing modification of behaviour.

We see this in the comments online about the ‘news’, when the ‘news’ is about the comments. Have people been taken in? This is fuel for further mind control.

EVERYTHING IS PSYOPS

Is Everything Psyops

We generally think of psyops (psychological operations) as a military tool, but it’s also in domestic usage; look up the influences of Edward Bernays, the nephew of Sigmund Freud. Bernays was a pioneer in the field of public relations – or rather, public propaganda – often in ways that undermined individual autonomy and democratic values.

All presentations are a psyop, using psychological methods used to influence the emotions, motives, and reasoning of target audiences to achieve objectives to convey selected information and influence their motives and reasoning.

One could call it Psychological Warfare (psywar) to achieve the goal of shaping public opinion and memory.

Advertising is psyop. Conversations are psyop. In other words, it’s neurolinguistic programming that spreads ideas from one person to another.

People are quick to conform in order ‘to be in the know’ without actually knowing.

THE AGE OF STUPIDITY

The Age Of Stupidity

The age of stupidity is one that exaggerate allegiances to an idea-bias, fuelling conflict. Woke-ness is the self-righteous behaviour of people who consider themselves superior to others, alienating anyone who doesn’t believe what they believe. It’s based on fear. This is the timeless invention of heresy.

Banning speech is manipulation. As long as the conventionally-minded align themselves to ideologies, conflicts will occur, generation after generation.

The first noble truth is to admit that we are suffering through the stupidity of believing we are others’ ideas.

The second noble truth is recognising the cause of this stupidity, which is blind acceptance of others’ ideas.

The third noble truth is finding our direction away from stupidity.

The fourth noble truth is no longer being stupid, turning a ‘woke’ mind into compassionate wisdom.

DISCOVERING WHAT THE ANCIENTS KNEW

Discovering What The Ancients Knew

Discovering what the ancients knew
… when we are taught to forget.

What is this discovery? Wisdom. Wisdom is not a wizard who does magic tricks and fights evil; it is knowledge that sees evil as a reminder to not become involved.

The truth of our being which sets us free has been obscured by confining our minds to clever but mundane activities. Let’s say there is a place in the world where great conflict is being acted out, and there are several views about this conflict. As a witness, we see that some people say this, and some say that. Evil wants everyone to become involved, while the truth of the matter lies in merely witnessing.

There’s always trouble in the world.
Evil minds make sure of that.
Be aware of being used.

RELIGION ASKS NO QUESTIONS

Religion Asks No Questions

Religion is a place where we don’t ask questions.
If we do question, the reply comes only from a set text.

If we ask, “Why should I believe that text?”
the answer should be, “Don’t. Test it.

Very few test, and this is why discomfort arises at the question,
and they just quote text again.

When we actually test it rather than just going along with it,
a lot of things drop away, like the words.

Dropping the words and just seeing –
no words are necessary.

PRETENDING WE DON’T SEE

Pretending We Don’t See

Believing is accepting others’ say-so, and pretending – through fear of not conforming – that it’s true. This is how we live our lives on this planet run by politics.

Politic: seeming to be sensible and judicious in the circumstances.

Political belief is about being influenced, and pretending that we’re not. Be aware of the psychology going on in the minds throughout this planet. We’re told one thing, and the opposite happens. There ‘s always conflict in the world for us to worry about, along with an influence to ignore the complete picture.

Enlightenment begins when we stop pretending,
and start to acknowledge just seeing.

POINTING TO OUR SIMPLE REALITY

Pointing To Our Simple Reality

We are aware. There’s nothing difficult about experiencing this. Just being aware.

If we start to analyse awareness, such as asking where it came from, it becomes a product of mind, and we abide in our imagination. This is the same as asking where the infinite universe, space and matter came from; they’re just eternal.

Our problem is that we’re so attached to this impermanent body, mind and matter that speculation and stories arise, and pure awareness is obscured.

Just being aware is pure awareness;
it’s what we are.
It is pure consciousness.

Stories are products in the mind that trap and confuse.
Pure consciousness has no story to it.

DECONSTRUCTING THE CONSTRUCTION

Deconstructing The Construct

Our pure mind is pure consciousness.

Through education and society’s groupthink, it has been constructed to hum someone else’s tune. To think for ourself is a rare occurrence as our mind is usually telling us what to think.

Deconstruction arises through meditation.
An empty mind is a clear mind.

“If it’s empty, then that’s stupid!”
I said, “A clear mind”…
which improves your mental health.

WORDS ARE CODE

Words Are Code

Words convert thoughts into messages. Those words are then decoded and interpreted. This is how communication happens.

It’s the interpretation that is the problem, because of our limited ideas about those words which downgrades communication into set patterns of thought and speech. We therefore rarely say anything worthwhile – we just talk, making sounds.

Words need to be verified, which means questioned. What does that person mean, and why are they saying it? This refines the code and our understanding, improving ability to communicate at a higher level, which improves our mental health.

Whatever is unsaid tells us more.

IS LIFE REPEATING ITSELF?

Is Life Repeating Itself?

Is life repeating itself, or are we repeating ourselves?

As long as we hold on to ideas, these ideas will influence whatever we do and say, and so this attitude becomes our lot in life. We unwittingly reinforce this pattern, moment by moment, reincarnation by reincarnation. To break out, we have to be aware of this habitual pattern of seeing and hearing.

We each have four aspects: body, brain, mind and consciousness.
The body is our vehicle: evolutionary memories.
The brain is our hard drive: the grooves of experience.
The mind is our software: the memories of experience.
Consciousness is the operator: the pure essence of being.

When we are unaware of what we actually are – which is consciousness – we live on memories, just like AI programming.

The sentence for ignorance is to repeat the past.
The sentence for wisdom is release from the past.

LIFE HASN’T TURNED OUT AS I’D HOPED

Life Hasn’t Turned Out As I’d Hoped

It’s turned out better.

Life felt wrong … people felt wrong … I hoped that there was something more than this.

I’ve been through many ‘spiritual’ groups throughout my life, all of which showed fanatical formalism, using forms of worship without any display of compassionate essence. Basically, these people weren’t very friendly; they lacked empathetic understanding, and only had eyes for the figurehead in the hope that they would make it all better for them. Groups worship groupthink.

In letting go of it all, a great change occurred. It’s not easy to put into words: the closest I can get is some sort of inner inspiration and gratitude. All the anguish was a blessing in disguise – an apparent misfortune that eventually has good results, for which one is grateful. There is a sense of gratitude that one’s inner questioning had been right.

Letting go and actually seeing for the first time
– rather than seeing through others’ eyes –
is uplifting.

On Marpa’s return journey from India to Tibet, his associate threw his notes and texts overboard, leaving Marpa with nothing.

All he had left was whatever was actually experienced.
Wisdom is not in the words.

WHAT IS THE EMPHASIS OF OUR LIFE?

What Is The Emphasis Of Our Life?

What is most important to us?

Our answer will tell us much about the way our life gone. Did we want a happy one? Did we want to know the truth? Did we want both? Is life a tradeoff, accept a disadvantage in order to have a good outcome.

This blog has an emphasis. It is Dzogchen, and what isn’t Dzogchen. Dzogchen is a Tibetan word for pure consciousness. There are many words for pure consciousness. What isn’t Dzogchen is distraction. Talking about Dzogchen is a distraction, but we quickly know when to return.

The only truth is in the experience of silent pure consciousness.
It’s our good place, our happy place.

LIFE/INCARNATION IS JUST ONE DAY – TODAY

Life/Incarnation Is Just One Day – Today

Life/incarnation is just one day – today. Yesterday has gone. Tomorrow hasn’t happened. Don’t think, “I want a happy life”. Just have a happy day. Then, perhaps, you will have a happy life. 🙂

We cannot change the world as the majority still believes that conflict will change things. Happiness is the release from distraction and anxiety. In the moment now, there is only spontaneous presence, before we’re taken over by reactions.

A contented moment leads to further contented moments. Whether there is reincarnation of body doesn’t matter because we are content, and prepared for whatever occurs.

Reincarnation is an ongoing process.

HOW DOES REINCANATION WORK?

How Does Reincarnation Work?

Firstly, we have to get our head around the truth that we are eternal consciousness. One simple example is that, since our birth, consciousness has never changed. This is very significant, but due to our desires which distract us, we forget or ignore this important fact.

We’ve accumulated many fixated ideas throughout this eternal process, and these have become our individual habitual programming. It is this continuity that reinvents itself, moment by moment. We have become predictable – and if we can catch this moment, we arrest this cyclic existence.

Catching this moment is done through the method of meditation. In pure meditation of resting in pure awareness, there is no programming – we’ve dropped out. It is for each individual to recognise the significance of this moment.

Our problem is that, in each moment, we reinvent ourselves. That is reincarnation. It’s what is called the vicious cycle of existence. At death, due to this residue of ideas, we continuously take on a new flesh-suit until we realise our true essence.

Incarnate: Latin incarnat- ‘made flesh’.

OUR SELF IS FOOLING US

Our Self Is Fooling Us

We don’t fool ourselves; our self is fooling us.

What we claim to be ‘me’ is a construction of ideas and thoughts in the mind. When consciousness recognises this foolery of imagination, all mind activity becomes our teacher, showing us what we are holding onto, and why.

Self will be with us until we give up this ghost.

WAKING UP TO WHAT’S ACTUALLY HAPPENING

Waking Up To What’s Actually Happening

Waking up to what is happening in the world is not enough. That isn’t actually waking up – it’s still the dream. We have to wake up to what’s happening in our mind that misdirects our reality of consciousness.

As long as we ignore our reactions, we will be forever ensnared by our cleverness. This misdirection is how evil works.

When we think we know what ‘they’ are doing and pontificate about it, we’re still involved, being captured by the show. We remain the audience, as the shadow projections in Plato’s cave.

Meditation is disengaging from this engagement. Dropping all our clever ideas is the way out – and the path to enlightenment.

Enlightenment can never be realised by thinking about it.

DEALING WITH NEGATIVE EMOTIONS

Dealing With Negative Emotions

These negative emotions are pride, jealousy, desire, aversion and indifference, stemming from an idea in the mind of self and self-importance. They make our life (and the lives of others) hell. The enlightening news is that they are also the source of wisdom.

When we recognise these emotions, something wonderful happens – they have been observed! When they’re observed by pure consciousness, these emotions have no reality. We aren’t these emotions; we are the spontaneous instant of pure consciousness.

In an unenlightened world, things will always appear to go wrong; it’s the nature of our unstable cycle of existence. In the very first instant of perceiving something that doesn’t feel right, pure consciousness is alerted and brightens up. We are illuminated, and that moment is our perfect reality of wisdom – just seeing – and all possibilities unfold.

But because we assume that we are a product of the mind and are infatuated with an idea of self, we react, and claim a limited and biased reason for this occurrence. We justify, rationalise, judge without further ado, and become unbearable. This is hell. We have become a hell being.

Wisdom is all about that first moment of everlasting pure consciousness.
This first moment is our stable place of inner peace.

Emotions arise in all of us.
The levels of realisation are all about how quickly we recognise, and recover inner peace.

It’s being aware, rather than being caught and held.

OUR THOUGHTS ARE NOT OUR OWN

Our Thoughts Are Not Our Own

Our thoughts are not our own.
They never were.
We learnt to adopt them.

This is the deception of knowing about something

Whatever we read or hear about is never the complete picture, as it’s all about – concerning – that person’s view. Remember, we are reading about something, rather than actually experiencing the thing itself.

We become experts in knowing about a subject, and convince ourselves – and others – that we’ve experienced what we’ve imagined, and we find ourselves repeating and justifying vagueness.

All the imagery, titles, names, robes, hats, beards, suits, paraphernalia … are an effort to make us accept whatever appearance is being presented. In this way, we’re falling for the form, the look, the dream state.

Take all the paraphernalia away and just listen.

Test, test, test.
In this way we become less stupid.

How?
Look at the effect on the mind of whatever appears.

Has the appearance taken over our mind?
Or does the appearance remind us that appearances have no reality?

DIMENSIONS, REALMS, OR LEVELS OF REALISATION.

There’s much confusion and speculation when the words ‘dimension’ and ‘realm’ are used to refer to spiritual development. These words suggest ‘place’, with length, breadth and height as if there is another reality – somewhere to go to. All the holy-day brochures for spiritual tourists suggest that they’re the ‘place to be’. 🙂

Levels (or yanas), on the other hand, are to do with understanding and realisation, and are an indication of how open and clear we are.

Twisting truth obscures practicality.
Dimensions and realms are ‘somewhere’ else.
Levels are right here, right now.

It’s up to each individual to discern meaning.

THE MORE WE REALISE

The More We Realise

The more we realise, the simpler it all gets.
Is Buddhahood something miraculous, or something ordinary?

Perhaps everything we’re told
is actually the opposite …

EVIL TRANSFERS ITS KARMIC EFFECT

Evil Transfers Its Karmic Effect

How?
When we don’t say no to whatever is happening,
then we’re okay with it.

We are saying yes, so we take the consequences
of just going along with things.

Recognise the unconscious mindset of manipulation.
Learn to read the signs and symbols of whatever is being worshipped.

ARTIFICAL INTELLIGENCE DECEIVES US

Artificial Intelligence Deceives Us

Artificial intelligence deceives us
so that we don’t know what’s real.

Words are artificial intelligence that deceives us
so that we don’t know what’s real.

Words are information that creates an intellectual understanding, but not the experience. This intellectualisation conjures up interpretations and exaggerations that make us lazy. How can words be the truth? Worshipping words distracts pure experience.

Jesus is seen differently by the three theistic religions. Three interpretations – which one is right? From the perspective of a ‘Buddhist’, Jesus was obviously a realised person who knew what our reality is, but his teaching was interpreted to suit certain agendas – sets of words – reflecting the underlying intentions of a particular group.

Agenda: things to do and say, as opposed to what we are already.

LOOKING WITHIN? … LOOK OUT!

Looking Within? … Look Out!

Twisting truth.

We are told to look within to ‘find ourselves’, either as an introspection or to discover our true reality. This is a misguided misunderstanding of the process. That which is within is looking out; it’s conscious awareness, just being aware. In pure conscious awareness, there is nothing to look into as there are no features.

Even when we’re looking at the reactions in the mind, it is still conscious awareness that sees those words and pictures. When that which is within looks out, reacts and is captured by thoughts, this obscures what’s within. This obscuring is our dream state, and it’s important to acknowledge this.

Carl Jung said, “When we look out, we are dreaming. When we look within, we are awake.” When this is observed in practice, however, it is seen to be incorrect. We are that which is looking out, and this is consciousness.

Looking within is counter-productive.
Noticing the reactions and behaviour that obscure looking out is enlightening.
Just seeing is our reality.

Look, see, drop … all attachments.

Reality is not in looking within.
Reality is that which is looking out.

REACTING ISN’T THINKING

Reacting Isn’t Thinking

When we react to something, this is our habitual routine, our programming. It’s what makes us a type, and therefore predictable. This is what surveillance monitors. Are we going through our routine, or have we deviated? When we react, we’re conforming to our programming due to preconceived thoughts that are controlling us. Thoughts are our storage units, our prison walls.

Thinking, on the other hand, is weighing all sides, all possibilities, and considering what is behind those possibilities.

Before thinking – and coming to a conclusion – there is mere observation, awareness, consciousness, cognisance.

It is through meditation that the realisation
that there is nothing more than awareness occurs.
This is pure awareness.

Those who are looking for more
are still locked in their storage units,
mystified, utterly bewildered and perplexed.
