The Ego Isn’t Real
Realisation removes the terror of the devil-ego. This ego has no independent existence; it’s not a solid thing or an evil entity living inside or outside us. It’s just a collection of memories, conditioning and repetitive thoughts.
In this view, hell is simply being trapped in the ego’s narrative of fear and separation. Heaven – or liberation – is waking up to the reality that we are the spacious awareness witnessing the ego, completely untouched by it.
When we shift from actor to audience, we don’t need to destroy the ego to escape hell – we only need to observe it. When an angry or fearful thought arises, we notice it without judging.
The weak point of the ego is that it requires our attention to survive. The moment we observe it, we are no longer trapped in it. The entity doing the observing is our true nature – pure awareness. Without fuel – attention, identification and belief – the ego’s flames eventually die down, leaving behind the natural peace of non-duality.
