The Catch In The Bardo = The Winds Of Karma
Wherever we think we’re going after death, nothing is a certainty. It’s the same as wondering what will happen tomorrow. We just believe.
While the Bardo text says that, after death, a being has the capacity for instant astral travel and immense clarity, there is a major catch: stability.
Unless the individual is a highly trained meditator or an awakened being, consciousness in the bardo is described as being like a feather swept up in a hurricane, driven helplessly by the winds of karma – our untamed mind.
Instead of systematically exploring the universe or initiating stable contact with other realms, it is said that an untrained mind is quickly overwhelmed by vivid karmic hallucinations and an intense pull toward their next rebirth.
Emulate the duck; all that occurs is like water off its back.
Every droplet of noise, stress, or judgement that assaults the mind
rolls away harmlessly.
🙂
It doesn’t matter what happens in the Bardo;
we can train right here, right now.
