ISOLATING BUT LIBERATING

Isolating But Liberating

I wasn’t kicked out for questioning the teaching or the teacher. It was difficult to know how to behave and embrace the adoration-devotion, and because of this, I was expelled from different groups several times. I wasn’t a bad boy … I was just mystified by people’s acting abilities. 🙂

The answer to my questions lay the way in which I was shunned afterwards, and considered to be an enemy. There was no support, understanding or compassion for someone thought to be an outsider.

This happened in every case, and proved my point perfectly.

When a community’s cohesion depends entirely on absolute, unquestioning devotion to a single figurehead , anyone who struggles to perform that devotion naturally becomes a threat to the group identity.

Guru devotion has turned the Dharma into a duality, and until compassion and kindness come to the modern world, the real Dharma will remain far away.

Being shunned is incredibly isolating, but it’s also deeply liberating. It returns authority to us. It took me a long time to understand and clarify what had happened, but when doors close, others open.
