Spiritual Deconstruction

The trap of believing words and celebrity
over the direct clarity of experience.

We can hear and read good words, and adopt them. That makes us feel special, feel initiated, feel outside the herd when, in truth, we merely joined another herd of words, and lost direct realisation.

This is the subtle trap of the illusion of awakening through the adoption of a new vocabulary, and the idolisation of the teachers who gave us that vocabulary.

It is incredibly easy to trade an old orthodoxy for a new ‘enlightened’ one without ever actually activating direct experience.

Homo sapiens: wise man or clever repeater?Anyone can read original texts, and become a ‘philosopher’ or a ‘spiritual teacher’.

Humans are hardwired for belonging and seeking validation. The resulting vulnerability creates a specific language trap of counterfeit enlightenment.

If sentient beings realise that they are pure consciousness, the hierarchy of words and teachers loses its power. An ordinary person who begins to see through the illusion of reality is beginning the process of Bodhi (awakening) as they start to ask, “Where did confusion come from, and what maintains it?”

The only aspect of life we can trust is direct pure awareness,
rather than all the clever words spoken about it.
