BEING YOUR SELF

Being Your Self

What’s that?

Our self is an imaginary being in our mind. It starts off with directives to our brain when we’re very young, and this becomes our hard drive of lasting memories (traumas) to which consciousness attaches, and the illusion of self is complete.

Consciousness glues together scattered memories, cultural conditioning and childhood survival strategies, branding the whole package as a convenient self.

And that’s our problem – constantly defining and redefining our self.

It is consciousness that observes this clever illusion of which we are so proud, but now and again, an individual breaks out.

The one thing we have to be aware of is the dark side of existence. In Sanskrit, this is called Mara which wants us to forget what we are, and drag us back to the ‘real’ world. Most conversations maintain this illusion.

A practitioner ends up becoming someone who retreats, dedicating their life to spiritual discipline and meditation, aligning their being with the unity of conventional and absolute truth, as the universe is complete in opposites.
