Buddhas In Banality
Banality is lacking in originality or freshness. This is the human mind with no clarity, no spontaneity, and no sense of responsibility.
The level of banality depends on the type of ‘company’ we keep: people, videos, words … Adhering only to these elements brings a predictable cycle of existence which dulls cognitive function, and only serves as a psychological safety net, a dream state. The brain literally shuts down and can no longer learn anything new, or deal with anything provocative.
In this profound lack of motivation, we lose critical thinking; not the type that finds fault, but the kind that asks genuinely experiential questions rather then theoretical ones.
When the mind is starved of freshness and spontaneity, it seeks unhealthy stimulation to break the monotony, thus activating a daydreaming state.
Our pure essence of mind is Buddha nature, our enlightened reality. It’s pure and simple, and free of concepts, and seeks genuine connection through the emotional depth of wisdom.
