Now You See It, Now You Don’t
Normally, a thought appears in empty mind essence: we see it, follow it and believe it; it becomes ‘real’, it becomes part of us, it is now our karmic programming … so now we don’t see it.
We believe we are the accumulation of all our thoughts, and so the more thoughts we have, the more superior we feel. This is the usual pattern of sentient, human behaviour.
Conversely, from an ultimate point of view, in the moment of seeing a thought appear in empty mind essence, it is liberated – gone!
That is the value of meditation.
Introduce a thought and just see it.
It is in that moment of seeing that we have a choice: to hold on or let it dissolve naturally into emptiness.
