Thinking And Thoughts
Thinking
is tool, such as a hammer.
We use it for that moment,
and then put it away in the tool box so that we can find it
when it’s next needed.
Thinking is what we do to resolve something. In fact, thinking merely involves seeing and weighing up possibilities. Having then realised what is required, we drop that activity, as there is no need to hold on to it because the next immediate moment presents itself, and we need a clear head. We don’t carry one resolution to the next, as the next may require a different approach.
Thoughts
are equivalent to carrying the hammer around with us all the time,
along with all our other burdens.
This is how the continuity of karma is maintained in our behaviour.
